India is set to host a variety of major sports events in 2025, ranging from badminton to cricket. The first notable event will be the Kho Kho World Cup, taking place in Delhi from January 13 to 19, with India facing archrivals Pakistan in the opening match.
Following this, the BWF India Open (Super 750) will be held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall. In addition to the Super 750 tournament, India will also host three other badminton events, including a Super 300 and two Super 100 tournaments, scheduled for November and December.
In February, India will welcome teams for several matches in the FIH Pro League, which serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Men’s Hockey World Cup. The top-ranked team not yet qualified for the World Cup will secure a spot. With the Netherlands, Belgium, and Australia already qualified, India will look to take advantage of this opportunity to book their place in the tournament. The matches will take place in Bhubaneswar, with men’s teams from Spain, the Netherlands, England, and Ireland, and women’s teams from England, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany, participating.
India will also host the Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup in December, with 24 teams participating. Although the venue is still to be confirmed, the event will be a significant highlight. In October, Guwahati will host the BWF Junior World Championships, another key junior tournament.
In the realm of shooting, India has been named as the host for the Junior Shooting World Cup, though the exact date and venue are yet to be decided.
