India’s rising pace sensation Harshit Rana shared insights on the invaluable lessons he has learned from star bowler Jasprit Bumrah and bowling coach Morne Morkel, which have helped him excel in international cricket. With the high stakes of the Champions Trophy, the Indian team management has placed its trust in Harshit over the more experienced Arshdeep Singh, who has a proven track record in ICC events.
Harshit Rana Shines with the Ball Against Bangladesh
Harshit Rana teamed up with the experienced Mohammed Shami, while Hardik Pandya played the role of the third seamer in India’s clash against Bangladesh in Dubai.
With the new ball, Harshit and Shami bowled in tandem, dismantling Bangladesh’s top order during the powerplay. He made an immediate impact by dismissing Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto for a two-ball duck. Later, he returned to finish strongly, ending with impressive figures of 3/31 in 7.4 overs.
Having trained alongside Jasprit Bumrah during India’s Test tour of Australia, Harshit credited the pace spearhead for helping him develop consistency and adaptability across formats.
“Working with Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) is very beneficial because of his vast experience. He guides me on how to bowl in different formats, and I have learned consistency from him,” Harshit shared after the match.
Harshit credited bowling coach Morkel for significantly improving his game, particularly in refining his line and length.
“I have learned a lot from him. He (Morkel) has worked extensively on my line and length,” Harshit remarked.
After securing a comfortable six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, India now shifts its focus to the high-stakes encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday at the same venue.
With anticipation building and pressure mounting, Harshit assured that the team would approach the game with a composed mindset.
“When you play for India, there is always pressure. But we will treat it as just another game,” he stated.
