Punjab Kings suffered a massive batting collapse, getting bowled out for just 111 runs in their first innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 31 of IPL 2025 on Tuesday, April 15. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.

Unfortunately, the home team struggled to cope with KKR’s relentless bowling attack. While Priyansh Arya (22) and Prabhsimran Singh (30) gave PBKS a solid start, the middle and lower order crumbled quickly. By the 11th over, they had lost seven wickets for just 80 runs.
Prominent batters, including Shreyas Iyer (0), Josh Inglis (2), Nehal Wadhera (10), and Glenn Maxwell (7), were dismissed cheaply. KKR pacer Harshit Rana took key wickets, dismissing both openers and Iyer. Spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy also played pivotal roles, each claiming two wickets. Ultimately, Punjab Kings were all out for a mere 111 runs in just 15.3 overs.

PBKS delivered a drastically different batting performance in their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), setting a massive total of 245/6 in the first innings. Despite the impressive score, they were unable to secure the win due to a poor bowling performance. SRH’s Abhishek Sharma, with a brilliant 141, led the home team to a remarkable victory during the chase.
Prior to their current match against KKR, PBKS had won three out of five games and lost two. With six points, they currently sit in sixth place on the points table.
