Delhi Capitals (DC) bowling coach, Munaf Patel, has been found guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct during his team’s recent match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. As a result, the former Indian fast bowler has been fined 25 percent of his match fee.

Delhi Capitals’ bowling coach Munaf Patel has been fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals. The incident occurred during the game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, with the specifics of his violation not disclosed. However, it’s speculated that Patel had an altercation with a match official after being denied permission to send a player onto the field to deliver a message.

Patel was found guilty under Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct, and in addition to the fine, he has accumulated one demerit point for the breach. He has accepted the sanction imposed by the Match Referee.

The IPL issued the following statement: “Munaf Patel, Bowling Coach, Delhi Capitals, has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Wednesday. He has accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.”

As for the match itself, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl first. Delhi Capitals set a total of 188/5, with significant contributions from Abishek Porel (49), KL Rahul (38), Tristian Stubbs (34*), and Axar Patel (34).

During the chase, Rajasthan Royals, led by Sanju Samson, were impressive, with openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) and Nitish Rana (51) both scoring half-centuries. However, despite needing just nine runs off Mitchell Starc’s final over, they fell short, and the match ended in a tie. Delhi Capitals then successfully chased 12 runs in the Super Over, securing their fifth win in six matches. With 10 points, they have climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table.
