Shreyas Iyer Fined for Slow Over-Rate in PBKS Win Against CSK

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was fined ₹12 lakh by the BCCI for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during their match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Iyer’s team, PBKS, was found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate, marking their first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code, which deals with minimum over-rate violations.
Although the fine was imposed, Iyer had little to worry about for two reasons: 1) It was a first-time offence, meaning no demerit points were added to his record, and 2) PBKS secured a comfortable victory, with Iyer playing a key role by scoring a blistering 72 off 41 balls.

Shreyas Iyer (72 off 41 balls, 5×4, 4×6) and Prabhsimran Singh (54 off 36 balls, 5×4, 3×6) were pivotal in guiding PBKS to victory, with Iyer scoring his fourth fifty since taking over as skipper and Prabhsimran registering his third half-century of the season. The duo put on a crucial 72-run stand for the second wicket, laying the foundation for the win.
