Glenn Maxwell contributed 48 runs and claimed four wickets in seven appearances during IPL 2025. In a major setback for Punjab Kings (PBKS), star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer confirmed the news ahead of their clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday, April 30.

The CSK vs PBKS match is currently in progress at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and marks the 49th fixture of the season. The two teams had previously faced off in Match 22, where PBKS, led by Iyer, secured an 18-run victory at home. CSK will now be aiming to settle the score in their home fixture.

Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of IPL 2025 after suffering a fractured finger.

PBKS captain Iyer won the toss against CSK and chose to bowl first. Following the toss, he confirmed that Glenn Maxwell would not be part of the playing XI. Iyer revealed that the Australian all-rounder had suffered a fractured finger, and the team has yet to finalize a replacement. Notably, Maxwell was included in PBKS’s lineup in their previous match.

“We’ll be bowling first. Our focus is on sticking to our process. The preparations have been solid, and the team is in high spirits ahead of the match. It’s unfortunate that Maxwell has fractured his finger. We haven’t made a call on his replacement yet,” Iyer stated.

Maxwell had a disappointing run in the tournament. The right-hander managed just 48 runs across seven innings, averaging a low 8.0, with a strike rate of 97.96. His highest score was 30.

With the ball, Maxwell took four wickets in six matches, maintaining an economy rate of 8.46. He claimed one wicket in four games and went wicketless in two. PBKS had acquired him for ₹4.20 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction.
