IPL presenter and social media personality Tanay Tiwari shared a story about how Rohit Sharma supported him early in his career after he accidentally spilled coffee on him.
Rohit Sharma’s Calm Demeanor Shines in Off-Field Incident

Despite spending years at the top level of elite cricket, where intensity and aggression often define leadership, Indian captain Rohit Sharma remains widely known for his calm, composed, and easygoing personality—especially off the field.
This gentle side of Rohit came through in a story shared by cricket content creator Tanay Tiwari, who has worked closely with both Mumbai Indians and the Indian national team. Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Tiwari recalled an incident from 2017, when he was just a 21-year-old intern with the Mumbai Indians.
“I was interviewing Rohit and, in a rush, I accidentally spilled hot coffee on him,” Tiwari recounted. “There was barely any space on the small table between us, and while setting up the camera, it happened.”
The situation quickly turned tense. “Someone from his team really scolded me badly. I was so nervous—I thought my career had ended before it had even begun.”
But Rohit’s reaction was the opposite of what Tiwari feared.
Rohit’s composed and understanding response not only diffused the moment but, in Tiwari’s words, “saved my career.”
‘You don’t know how much happiness you’ve given…’

Tanay Tiwari has since become a prominent figure in the world of cricket broadcasting, boasting nearly 500,000 Instagram followers and a key role in JioHotstar’s coverage of both the IPL and the Indian national team. But his flourishing career once came dangerously close to derailing—if not for Rohit Sharma’s composed and compassionate response during a rookie blunder.
It’s a moment Tiwari continues to cherish deeply, one he fondly revisits whenever he crosses paths with the Indian skipper. “Quite a few times I’ve told him,” said Tiwari. “I met him and couldn’t say anything except thank you. I told him, ‘Rohitbhai, you probably don’t know how much happiness you’ve given, to how many different people.’ He was like, ‘Arrey yaar, aaja yaar (Come here),’” he added, mimicking a warm hug from Rohit.
