James Anderson was thrilled to receive the honour and proud to share it with Sachin, whom he admired growing up.
James Anderson Honoured as England-India Test Series Renamed After Him and Sachin Tendulkar

Legendary fast bowler James Anderson expressed heartfelt gratitude for being linked to the upcoming England-India Test series, which will now be renamed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Anderson, the highest wicket-taking pacer in Test history, was honoured alongside batting icon Sachin Tendulkar as the BCCI and ECB decided to replace the long-standing Pataudi Trophy with this new name ahead of the series in England.
Reflecting on their numerous memorable on-field battles, Anderson praised Tendulkar, whom he admired growing up. Speaking at a DP World event at Lord’s, Anderson called the honour “huge” and shared his pride in sharing this legacy with a player he deeply respected.
Anderson, fresh from retiring after an extraordinary 188-Test career, is regarded as England’s greatest fast bowler. His counterpart, Tendulkar, is the iconic Indian batter who redefined greatness with 200 Test matches before retiring in 2013.
‘Winning in India a really special moment’

James Anderson fondly recalled his experiences playing against India, highlighting the 2007 Test series victory as a standout moment in his career.
“There are some great memories, I always loved playing against India,” Anderson said. “I’d say, after the Ashes, it was the series that England looked forward to the most. I obviously had some tough times in India, it’s a really hard place to go, but we won there which was a really special moment, and some of the battles we had in England were great. They had some amazing players,” he added.
