Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami shared an unbeaten 89-run partnership during the 2021 Lord’s Test.
Currently, the Indian and England cricket teams are battling it out in the third Test of the five-match series at Lord’s. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered a stunning five-wicket haul in England’s first innings, dismissing key batsmen such as Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, and Joe Root to finish with impressive figures of 5/74.
Thanks to Jasprit Bumrah outstanding bowling, India bowled out England for 387 runs in their first innings. Joe Root scored an important century, while Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse contributed half-centuries after England won the toss and chose to bat first.
This five-wicket haul marked Jasprit Bumrah 15th in Test cricket and earned him a place on the prestigious Lord’s Honours Board. Reflecting on this achievement, Bumrah also fondly remembered another special moment from the 2021 tour at Lord’s.

In the post-match press conference on day two, Jasprit Bumrah revealed that his match-winning batting partnership with Mohammed Shami at Lord’s in 2021 holds more significance for him than having his name engraved on the prestigious Lord’s Honours Board.
“For me, the most memorable Test match was that last one in England, where Shami bhai and I won the game with our batting. Those moments will always remain close to my heart,” he shared.
“Of course, having your name on the honours board is special. When my son grows up, I can proudly tell him that my name is there, along with many other places. But the memories—that’s what stays with you the most,” Bumrah added.
Reflecting on the match, he explained why that memory stands out for him, emphasizing how they turned the game around.
“In that match, I only took three or four wickets, but it’s very special to me because we staged a comeback and bowled them out in just sixty overs. For me, memories hold greater value,” he said.
“Whenever I play for India, my goal is to contribute as much as possible. When I’m able to do that, it feels rewarding to put my team in a strong position. That’s always been my mindset,” he concluded.
During the second Test of the 2021 tour at Lord’s, Shami and Bumrah forged a crucial 89-run partnership for the ninth wicket in the second innings, helping India set a target of 272 runs for England. Shami remained unbeaten on 56, while Bumrah contributed an unbeaten 34. India then bowled out England for just 120 runs, securing a commanding 151-run victory.
In the ongoing Test, KL Rahul scored a century in the first innings. Additionally, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja both hit half-centuries as India crossed the 350-run mark on day three, having lost six wickets.
