RP Singh Warns Mohammed Siraj About Potential Workload Concerns. Former India pacer RP Singh has advised Mohammed Siraj to be mindful of his workload going forward. In the recently concluded Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Siraj played all five Tests for India, delivering over 185 overs.
Siraj emerged as the series’ leading wicket-taker, claiming 23 wickets at an average of 32.43. His relentless energy, commitment, and fighting spirit won praise from fans and experts alike.
In contrast, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah appeared in only three of the five matches during India’s England tour to manage his fitness. Mohammed Siraj stepped up in Bumrah’s absence during the second and fifth Tests, playing a pivotal role in India’s victories in both matches with match-defining five-wicket hauls.
RP Singh advises caution on Mohammed Siraj’s workload management
Cricketer-turned-commentator RP Singh recently told the Times of India that both Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah are valuable assets to the Indian cricket team, and their workload must be carefully managed. He warned that Siraj, like Bumrah, could face issues related to workload in the future and should be mindful of it.
“Right now, Siraj is fit and bowling well, but he needs to be careful. Workload management problems will catch up with him sooner or later. Jasprit Bumrah’s unique bowling action has already caused him to suffer,” Singh explained.
He added, “Both Mohammed Siraj and Bumrah are important for us, so their workload must be monitored. However, this workload management should be focused on domestic cricket rather than international matches.”
The 39-year-old also praised young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, expressing confidence that he will soon get opportunities in Test cricket. Arshdeep didn’t play during the recent England tour and is yet to make his Test debut.
“Arshdeep definitely deserves a chance. He’s an excellent bowler who can swing the ball both ways and has improved his pace. I’m sure he will be part of the playing XI soon,” Singh said.
