England is set to tour Ireland for a three-match T20I series from September 17 to 21. The England Cricket Team has announced its squad for the tour, marking their next white-ball assignment following the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup triumph. The three T20Is will be played on September 17, 19, and 21, with all matches taking place at The Village in Dublin.
England’s white-ball captain, Harry Brook, has been rested for the series. In his absence, all-rounder Jacob Bethell will lead the side, making his captaincy debut.
Before heading to Ireland, England will host South Africa for an ODI and T20I series from September 2 to 14.
Jacob Bethell: England T20I Squad Announced for Ireland Series
England have named a youthful T20I squad for their upcoming series against Ireland, while retaining a few experienced players such as Jos Buttler, Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, and Phil Salt. Right-arm pacer Sonny Baker has earned his maiden T20I call-up, and left-arm spinner Tom Hartley is also expected to make his T20I debut.
Notably, 21-year-old Jacob Bethell will captain the side, becoming England’s youngest-ever T20I captain, surpassing Monty Bowden’s record.

This will be England’s first bilateral T20I series against Ireland. Jacob Bethell, Previously, the teams met in two ICC T20 World Cup matches (2010 & 2022), with Ireland winning one and the other ending with no result.
Jacob Bethell: In their last T20I series in June, England whitewashed the West Indies at home. Ireland, meanwhile, hosted the West Indies in June, but rain affected the first two games, and the Caribbean side won the third match by 62 runs to take the series 1-0.
