Rohit Sharma India is set to take on Australia in the first ODI in Perth on October 19. The Indian cricket squad for the ODI series against Australia will depart from New Delhi on October 15 in two batches. According to PTI reports, one group will leave in the morning, while the second batch is scheduled to depart in the evening.
Several Indian players selected for the ODI series will still be engaged in the second Test against the West Indies, which will be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from October 10 to 14. Reports indicate that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer are expected to join the rest of the squad in New Delhi ahead of the team’s departure.
The squad will then fly to Perth for the opening ODI on October 19, with the second and third matches slated for October 23 and 25, respectively. If the second Test ends earlier than scheduled, players may be allowed to visit home before regrouping in Delhi for the Australia series.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Set to Rejoin India for Australia Series
The upcoming ODI series will witness the long-awaited return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the Indian team, following their last appearance at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March. Reports suggest that both players are expected to arrive in the national capital either on the day of departure or a day before.
“Virat and Rohit will touch down in the capital either on the day of departure or a day prior,” a source told PTI.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill will begin his tenure as India’s ODI captain during the Australia tour. Gill has been appointed as the new ODI skipper, taking over from Rohit Sharma, with Shreyas Iyer named as vice-captain for the 50-over format.
Rohit Sharma India will face Australia in a series comprising three ODIs and five T20Is. The ODI matches are scheduled to conclude on October 25, followed by the five T20Is from October 29 to November 8.
