Mayank Yadav is yet to join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp for IPL 2025. LSG head coach Justin Langer has provided an update on the young pacer’s fitness. Yadav is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The promising fast bowler is recovering from a toe injury. He made headlines last season after delivering impressive performances in his debut IPL games, earning back-to-back Player of the Match awards. Unfortunately, his campaign was cut short after just four appearances due to injury.
Meanwhile, fellow pacer Akash Deep has rejoined the LSG squad following a successful recovery from a lower back injury sustained during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He has returned to full fitness and featured in LSG’s recent clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday.
Mayank Yadav on the Road to Recovery, Confirms Justin Langer
Following Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) recent win over Mumbai Indians on Friday, batting coach Justin Langer provided a positive update on young pacer Mayank Yadav during the post-match press conference. According to Langer, Yadav is making solid progress at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
“Mayank is up and running, which is fantastic news—not just for LSG, but for Indian cricket and the IPL as a whole,” Langer said. “We all witnessed the impact he had last season. I don’t think there’s been anyone in India bowling quicker than Mayank, and that’s why there’s such a buzz around him. He’s eager and ready to get back out there.”
Langer further revealed that Yadav had a successful session in Bengaluru recently. “He bowled really well yesterday at the NCA. I believe he’s scheduled for a couple more bowling sessions,” he added.
The LSG coach also took a moment to appreciate the efforts of the NCA in managing player rehabilitation, crediting them for the return of key bowlers.
“Kudos to the NCA for doing a great job. They’ve already helped bring back Avesh Khan and Akash Deep, and now, hopefully, Mayank as well. We’re really grateful for the work they’re doing to get our players match-ready again,” said Langer, who stepped in as LSG’s head coach ahead of IPL 2025.
