A report states that the BCCI has shortlisted three venues to host the remaining IPL 2025 matches in May, pending government approval.
BCCI Shortlists Venues for IPL 2025 Resumption Amid Rising Tensions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted three venues—Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad—to potentially host the remaining 16 matches of IPL 2025, including the playoffs, if the Indian government grants permission for the tournament to resume in May. The IPL 2025 season was suspended for one week on Friday due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
If the tournament resumes in May, Eden Gardens may no longer host the IPL 2025 final, as previously planned. The original schedule had Eden Gardens set for Qualifier 2 and the Final, with Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator to be held elsewhere.
However, the report does not mention a specific cut-off date for deciding whether the tournament can resume in May. Franchise officials were informally notified by the BCCI on Friday about the situation, but some indicated that the season could be postponed to later in the year if government approval is not granted. The biggest challenge for the BCCI, if IPL 2025 resumes in May, would be bringing back overseas stars who have already begun departing for their home countries. Currently, there is no guarantee that all foreign players will return if the tournament resumes in May.
How much tournament is remaining?

The IPL governing council has decided to suspend the tournament due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. On Friday, the BCCI released an official statement announcing a one-week suspension for IPL 2025, with new schedules and venues to be announced soon.
A total of 57 matches have been completed so far in the season, with the 58th match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) being called off after 10.1 overs. It remains unclear whether this match will be replayed once the tournament resumes.
