CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat first. With CSK already eliminated from the playoffs and sitting at the bottom of the points table, the five-time champions entered their final game of the tournament holding just six points.
From the very start, CSK’s batsmen delivered an impressive performance, dominating the GT bowling attack. GT’s spinner Rashid Khan had a tough outing, conceding 42 runs in his four overs. In the process, the leg-spinner also ended up sharing an unwanted record alongside Mohammed Siraj.

The right-arm spinner Rashid Khan has matched the IPL record for the most sixes conceded in a single season. So far in IPL 2025, he has given away 31 sixes, equalling the record previously set by Mohammed Siraj in the 2022 season. Following them on the list are Wanindu Hasaranga, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Dwayne Bravo.

Devon Conway (52) and Dewald Brevis (57) led the charge with impressive half-centuries. Crucial contributions also came from Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel, who scored 34 and 37 runs respectively. For GT, Prasidh Krishna was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 2 for 22.
