Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Punjab Kings in the final of IPL 2025. After 73 matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, the finalists have been decided. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, 3rd June.
Both RCB and PBKS were among the top teams during the league stage of IPL 2025. The two sides finished first and second respectively on the points table, each with 19 points from nine wins. However, the net run rate (NNR) separated them, placing the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings second.
RCB and PBKS also faced each other in Qualifier 1. It was a dominant performance by the Rajat Patidar-led RCB side, who bowled out PBKS for just 101 runs and comfortably chased the target with eight wickets in hand, securing a direct spot in the final.
Punjab Kings, however, bounced back strongly in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians (MI). The match, played at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 1st June, saw Shreyas Iyer’s team earn their place in the final.
The standout performer for PBKS was captain Shreyas Iyer, who played a brilliant innings. Chasing a target of 204 runs, Iyer led from the front, scoring 87 runs off 41 balls, guiding Punjab Kings to a five-wicket victory with an over to spare.
Have Punjab Kings (PBKS) or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ever won the IPL before?

This will be the first time in a long while that both teams have reached the IPL final. PBKS last played the final in 2014, while RCB’s most recent appearance was in 2016. However, both teams shared the same fate, losing their respective finals.
Interestingly, neither RCB nor PBKS has ever won the IPL title. This time, we will see a new champion. It remains to be seen which franchise will end its title drought when they face each other on Tuesday.
