Vaibhav Suryavanshi opened the innings for India U-19 in their recent match. Following the footsteps of India’s senior men’s cricket team, the India Under-19 squad is also touring England. During this tour, India U-19 will compete in five Youth ODIs and two Youth Tests. The first Youth ODI was held on Friday, June 27, at the County Ground in Hove.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who grabbed attention with his explosive 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025, is part of the India U-19 squad on this tour. Opening the batting, he played a swift and impactful innings of 48 runs, including five sixes and three boundaries, playing a crucial role in steering India U-19 towards victory.
In the match, England U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener Isaac Mohammed scored a solid 42 runs, followed by Rocky Flintoff’s impressive half-century (56). However, the rest of the England batting lineup collapsed quickly, failing to build on the start.
England U-19 were eventually bowled out for 174 runs in 42.2 overs. India U-19’s bowlers performed excellently as a unit, with Kanishk Chouhan claiming three wickets, while Henil Patel, RS Ambrish, and Mohamed Enaan took two wickets each.

While chasing, opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi dominated the bowlers, smashing shots all around the ground and putting together a strong opening partnership of 71 runs with captain Ayush Mhatre, who contributed 21 runs before getting out. Maintaining an impressive strike rate of 252.63, Suryavanshi fell agonizingly short of a half-century, dismissed by spinner Ralphie Albert in the eighth over.
Building on Vaibhav Suryavanshi momentum, Abhigyan Kundu played a crucial unbeaten innings of 45 runs. India U-19 successfully chased the target in 24 overs, securing a commanding six-wicket victory.
For England U-19, AM French took two wickets, while Jack Home and Ralphie Albert claimed one wicket each. With this win in the opening match, India U-19 now lead the five-match Youth ODI series 1-0. Vaibhav Suryavanshi The second match is scheduled for June 30 at the County Ground in Northampton.
