Former Zimbabwe and Ireland cricketer Peter Moor announces retirement from international cricket.

Peter Moor is among a rare group of just 17 cricketers who have represented two countries in Test cricket. At 34 years old, Moor, known for his elusive batting style, has announced his retirement from international cricket, concluding a remarkable and unique career.

Born in Harare, Peter Moor began his international journey with Zimbabwe, making his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2014. Over the next few years, he played 49 ODIs and 21 T20Is for Zimbabwe, scoring 364 runs in T20Is—including a standout unbeaten 92—and 827 runs in ODIs, with four half-centuries to his name.

Between 2016 and 2018, Peter Moor featured in eight Test matches for Zimbabwe, accumulating 513 runs and five fifties. Later, he made his Test debut for Ireland in April 2023 against Bangladesh, joining an exclusive list of players who have appeared in Test cricket for two different nations.

Leveraging his Irish heritage through his paternal grandmother, Peter Moor embraced a new chapter in Ireland. After making his Test debut for Ireland in 2023, he went on to play seven Test matches for the country.

His standout performance came in July 2024, when he scored 79 runs against his former team, Zimbabwe—his highest and only Test fifty for Ireland. Moor’s final Test appearance was in February 2025 against Zimbabwe, where he scored 4 and 30 runs.

Although Peter Moor had hoped to represent Ireland in the World Cup, that dream did not materialize. He played his last professional match for Munster Reds in Dublin on July 10, 2025, just a day before announcing his retirement from international cricket.

In that final game, Moor showcased his aggressive batting with 35 runs off 16 balls, including three sixes and two fours. The match also featured Curtis Campher making headlines by taking five wickets in five consecutive balls, leading their team to a commanding 100-run victory.

While Peter Moor international career has ended, he is expected to continue playing in domestic competitions and various T20 leagues.
