The UAE have secured their spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, joining Nepal and Oman from the Asia/East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifiers. Their qualification was confirmed following an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Japan in their Super Six clash at the EAP Qualifier in Oman on Thursday. Muhammad Waseem and his team have now guaranteed a top-three finish in the regional competition, joining Nepal and Oman as the tournament’s three qualifiers ahead of the scheduled conclusion on Friday. With this result, the full lineup of 20 teams for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is now finalized: India (co-host), Sri Lanka (co-host), Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, UAE, USA, West Indies, and Zimbabwe. The UAE’s win also eliminated Japan, Samoa, and Qatar, who still had a mathematical chance of qualifying. In the match, Japan, sent in to bat, were restricted to 116/9. The standout performance came from number nine, Wataru Miyauchi, who remained unbeaten on 45 off 32 balls. Other contributions in double figures came from Esam Rahman (23), Abhishek Anand (10), and Abdul Samad (11 not out). Sharafu followed for 46, bowled by Ibrahim Takahashi in the 11th over. Mitchell Starc to make Big Bash League comeback after 11 years
Mitchell Starc returns to Sydney Sixers for BBL 2025-26 after 11 years. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is set to make his long-awaited comeback to the Big Bash League (BBL), after 11 years, signing with the Sydney Sixers for the 2025-26 season. However, Mitchell Starc has made it clear that any changes to the tournament schedule should not come at the cost of Test cricket. The left-arm quick will join the Sixers for the latter half of the competition in January, following the conclusion of the Ashes 2025-26 series on January 8. Mitchell Starc last featured in the BBL during its inaugural season in 2011-12, playing six matches for the Sixers and appearing in four more across the next three editions up to 2014-15. Since then, he has focused primarily on representing Australia in international cricket. Having retired from T20 internationals earlier this year, Mitchell Starc will now be free of national team commitments post-Ashes, making him available for BBL fixtures on January 11, 16, and 18, as well as the finals if the Sixers progress. His participation will, however, depend on his physical condition following the demanding five-match Test series against England. Mitchell Starc Prioritises Test Cricket Despite BBL Return Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, the 35-year-old fast bowler expressed his excitement about returning to the Big Bash League but reiterated that Test cricket remains his top priority. “I’ve got no cricket scheduled between the fifth Test and the IPL at this stage. An opportunity to play some BBL cricket — I’ve obviously been a small part of the Sixers throughout the 15 seasons, so it’s nice to return to potentially a playing role,” Mitchell Starc said. “Obviously, we’ve got the five Test matches to focus on first and foremost. But post that, it’s my intention to be available to play some part if called upon,” he added. The veteran pacer also emphasized that the Test schedule should remain untouched by franchise leagues. “I’m fine with BBL windows. The only view I have on it is that the Test cricket schedule is not to be touched. Test cricket is the pinnacle. I don’t think Test cricket should make way for T20 cricket at all. Whether it’s the BBL, the IPL, anything — the Test summer is the Test summer. I would hate to see that change for domestic cricket,” he said. The Big Bash League 2025-26 will run from December 14, 2025, to January 25, 2026. The Ashes 2025-26 begins on November 21 in Perth and concludes on January 8 in Sydney. Before that, Mitchell Starc is gearing up for Australia’s upcoming three-match ODI series against India, scheduled from October 19 to 25. Hardik Pandya likely to miss Australia white-ball tour
India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya picked up an injury during the Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2025, which forced him to miss the tournament final. His participation in the upcoming Australia tour in November now appears doubtful. Hardik Pandya bowled only one over in the game against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium before walking off the field due to discomfort. He did not return for the rest of the match and was also absent in India’s next fixture against Pakistan. Despite the recovery timeline, Hardik will miss the upcoming three-match ODI series, which could mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma following their retirement from Test cricket earlier this year. Hardik Pandya: Whether Hardik can regain fitness in time for the five-match T20I series against Australia, starting October 29 at the Manuka Oval in Hobart, remains uncertain. The BCCI medical team is expected to issue an official update soon to determine his availability. Hardik Pandya During the Asia Cup 2025, Hardik shared the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah. “I can’t just sit back and hand over the reins…” – Vijay Shankar speaks out on leaving Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket

Vijay Shankar Joins Tripura Ahead of 2025-26 Domestic Season. Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar has officially parted ways with his long-time state team, Tamil Nadu, and will now represent Tripura in the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season. Vijay Shankar received his No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and is ready to embark on this new chapter in his domestic career. Having been a stalwart for Tamil Nadu since 2012, he leaves behind an impressive record. In 81 Ranji Trophy innings for Tamil Nadu, Vijay Shankar scored 3,142 runs at an average of 44.25, including 11 centuries and 16 half-centuries. With the ball, he also claimed 43 wickets for the side, underlining his value as a genuine all-rounder. “I can’t just sit out and hand out water”: Vijay Shankar In an interview with The Hindu, Vijay Shankar opened up about his frustration over limited opportunities and being left out of the playing XI, which eventually led him to part ways with the team. “Sometimes, when you’re forced to make a decision, you need to move on and seek new opportunities. I feel I’ve been performing well. More importantly, I just want to play cricket. I can’t go out there and simply sit on the sidelines—it’s tough after playing for so many years,” Shankar said. He also expressed the lack of clarity he faced regarding his exclusion from matches. “Last year, I was dropped for the first two Ranji games and then made a comeback. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, I was again left out for the last two games. That uncertainty was hard to handle. At some point, you need clarity, and I wasn’t getting it,” he explained. Vijay Shankar added, “I never felt secure with the selectors. Eventually, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was glad that our coach, M. Senthilnathan, spoke to me about what the selectors were thinking. That made me realize there was no point in staying and fighting to continue in this setup—it was too difficult.” Notably, Vijay Shankar has represented India in 12 ODIs and nine T20Is. He is currently part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and also played for the team in IPL 2025. In the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, he recorded his career-best score of 150 runs in a match against Chandigarh. Sign Up Fast For E2bet And Enjoy A Free Bonus On Your First Registration
